... Cut twenty-three strips 4-7/8" x 44" then cut into 180 squares, each 4-7/8"
... Cut twenty-four 1-1/2" x 44" strips for sashing and first border

Stitching Directions: A 1/4" seam allowance is included in all measurements.

1. Cut each of the 4-7/8" background squares in half diagonally, forming two equal triangles.

2. Cut each of the 9-1/4" Fabric #1 through Fabric #10 fabric squares, each into four equal triangles. You will only need eighteen floral triangles of each fabric; you can discard two triangles of each fabric.

3. Stitch two 4-7/8" background triangles to all of the floral 9-1/4" triangles of each fabric. These are the "Flying Geese" units.

4. Lay out the "Flying Geese" units in eighteen rows. Each row should have one of each fabric, in order from the #1 fabric to the #10 fabric.

5. Make five rows, each with two strips with the points facing out.

6. Make four rows, each with two strips with the points facing in.

7. Make twelve sashing/border strips, each with two 1-1/2" x 44" background strips sewn together end-to-end. Trim ten of these strips to the same length as the pieced "Flying Geese" rows.

8. Lay out the ten trimmed sashing/border strips and the nine pieced rows, as shown on the quilt diagram. Stitch rows together to complete center of quilt. Add the remaining two 1-1/2" background strips to the top and bottom of quilt. Press and trim these sashing strips and all successive border strips.

9. Make four border strips each with two 2-1/2" x 44" Fabric #3 strips sewn end-to-end. Add two of these to the right and left sides of quilt.

10. Cut one 2-1/2" x 44" Fabric #3 strip into two equal halves. Stitch each half strip end-to-end with a double-length strip. Sew these to the top and bottom of the quilt.

11. Cut two of the 3" x 44" Fabric #5 strips each into two equal lengths. Make four borders each with two whole and one half strip of 3" Fabric #5 strips. Add borders to the right and left sides and then to the top and bottom.

12. Make and add the fourth border with 3-1/2" x 44" Fabric #7 strips, in the same manner as the last border.

13. Cut one 4" x 44" Fabric #9 strip into two equal halves. Stitch each half strip end-to-end with a two full-length strips. Sew these to the right and left sides of the quilt.

14. Make two borders each with three 5" x 44" Fabric #9 strips sewn end-to-end. Add these to the top and bottom of quilt.

15. Cut backing fabric into three equal lengths then stitch together the three panels along selvage edges.

16. Layer backing, batting and quilt top. Baste layers together using Sullivan's Quilt Basting Spray, or another method. Quilt as desired, using Star Multi-Colored Quilting and Craft Thread (#855 Spring Greens).

17. Prepare binding from eleven strips of Fabric #9, each 2-1/2" x 44". Sew strips together into one long binding strip. Press strip in half lengthwise.

18. Carefully trim backing and batting even with quilt top.

19. Leaving an 8" tail of binding, sew binding to top of quilt through all layers matching all raw edges. Miter corners. Stop approximately 12" from where you started. Lay both loose ends of binding flat along quilt edge. Where these two loose ends meet, fold them back on themselves and press to form a crease. Using this crease as your stitching line, sew the two open ends of the binding together right sides together. Trim seam to 1/4" and press open. Finish sewing tape to quilt.

20. Turn binding to back of quilt and blind stitch in place.

21. Sign and date your work.
