"Simple Pillowcase"©2005
By Lucy A. Fazely & Michael L. Burns
Makes TWO pillowcases. Approximate Finished Size: 19" x 28"

These pillowcases look great with a novelty print to match your bedroom. All seams are enclosed so there will be no fraying-even with frequent washings!

Fabric Requirements: (Yardage is based on 44" wide fabric and a 1/2" seam allowance.)

... 1-7/8 yards fabric—can be print or solid that matches your decor
... matching all-purpose threads

Directions:
1. Trim the cut ends of the pillowcase fabric so they are straight.

2. Fold under both trimmed edges 1" to wrong side and press in place.
3. Fold under each trimmed edge another 3" and press in place. Stitch down this second fold. Below is a side view showing the two folds. The dotted lines show where your stitching line would run.

This second view (shown narrow to save space) is from the wrong side (gray) of your fabric with the white being the cuff folded over and stitched in place.

4. Cut in half. Trim selvages

5. Fold each half together, cuff to cuff, right sides out. Stitch along the two long edges using a 1/4" seam allowance. Press seams open then turn right sides in and press the seams flat. Stitch the seams again using a 1/2" seam allowance encasing the first seams. Turn right sides out and press.
